About Us

I established Treese Counseling Service in 2002 to provide counseling  for adults seen individually and in couples. What I do is consistent with current counseling theories and practice patterns. For example, I am currently looking at an acceptance model and concepts from positive psychology to see if ideas from these approaches can combine effectively with a basic problem correction model. The results are favorable. Beyond these more technical considerations, my approach emphasizes collaboration with the client as the most important source of information.

I graduated with a Ph.D. from the Counseling Psychology Program at Arizona State University in 1988 and was licensed to practice psychology in Arizona in 1989. I have had extensive clinical experience in psychiatric hospital, agency and private practice settings. My clinical work has focused on individual, group and relationship therapy. In addition, I was the principal designer of an outpatient intermediate care program and other specialized treatment approaches for a major managed care agency. I have held significant administrative positions and done hospital utilization review. My graduate research examined interpersonal influence variables that are active at the start of counseling.
